Spectral Classification of Stars in A Supplement to the Bright Star Catalogue MK spectral types are given for about 584 stars in A Supplement to theBright Star Catalogue. These are compared with Hipparcos parallaxes tocheck the reliability of those classifications. The estimated errors are+/-1.2 subtypes, and 10% of the luminosity classes may be wrong.
| CO emission and associated H I absorption from a massive gas reservoir surrounding the z = 3 radio galaxy B3 J2330+3927 We present results of a comprehensive multi-frequency study of the radiogalaxy B3 J2330+3927. The 1.9 arcsec wide radio source, consisting of 3components, is bracketed by 2 objects in our Keck K-band image. Opticaland near-IR Keck spectroscopy of these two objects yield z=3.087+/-0.004. The brightest (K=18.8) object has a standard type II AGNspectrum, and is the most likely location of the AGN, which implies aone-sided jet radio morphology. Deep 113 GHz observations with the IRAMPlateau de Bure Interferometer reveal CO J=4-3 emission, which peaks atthe position of the AGN. The CO line is offset by 500 km s-1from the systemic redshift of the AGN, but corresponds very closely tothe velocity shift of an associated HI absorber seen in Lyα. Thisstrongly suggests that both originate from the same gas reservoirsurrounding the AGN host galaxy. Simultaneous 230 GHz interferometerobservations find a ~ 3 x lower integrated flux density when compared tosingle dish 250 GHz observations with MAMBO at the IRAM 30 m telescope. This can be interpreted as spatially resolved thermal dust emission atscales of 0.5 arcsec to 6 arcsec. Finally, we present a tau < 1.3%limit to the HI 21 cm absorption against the radio source, whichrepresents the seventh non-detection out of 8 z>2 radio galaxiesobserved to date with the WSRT. We present mass estimates for theatomic, neutral, and ionized hydrogen, and for the dust, ranging fromM(HI )=2x 107 Msun derived from the associated HIabsorber in Lya up to M(H_2)=7x 1010 Msun derivedfrom the CO emission. This indicates that the host galaxy is surroundedby a massive reservoir of gas and dust. The K-band companion objects maybe concentrations within this reservoir, which will eventually mergewith the central galaxy hosting the AGN.Based on observations obtained with the IRAM Plateau de BureInterferometer, the W. M. Keck telescope, the Westerbork Synthesis RadioTelescope and the Very Large Array.
| Radial velocities. Measurements of 2800 B2-F5 stars for HIPPARCOS Radial velocities have been determined for a sample of 2930 B2-F5 stars,95% observed by the Hipparcos satellite in the north hemisphere and 80%without reliable radial velocity up to now. Observations were obtainedat the Observatoire de Haute Provence with a dispersion of 80Ä,mm(-1) with the aim of studying stellar and galactic dynamics.Radial velocities have been measured by correlation with templates ofthe same spectral class. The mean obtained precision is 3.0 km s(-1)with three observations. A new MK spectral classification is estimatedfor all stars. Based on observations made at the Haute ProvenceObservatory, France and on data from The Hipparcos Catalogue, ESA.Tables 4, 5 and 6 are only available in electronic form at the CDS viaanonymous ftp to cdsarc.u-strasbg.fr or viahttp://cdsweb.u-strasbg.fr/Abstract.htm
| UvbyHbeta_ photometry of main sequence A type stars. We present Stroemgren uvby and Hbeta_ photometry for a set of575 northern main sequence A type stars, most of them belonging to theHipparcos Input Catalogue, with V from 5mag to 10mag and with knownradial velocities. These observations enlarge the catalogue we began tocompile some years ago to more than 1500 stars. Our catalogue includeskinematic and astrophysical data for each star. Our future goal is toperform an accurate analysis of the kinematical behaviour of these starsin the solar neighbourhood.
| Vitesses radiales. Catalogue WEB: Wilson Evans Batten. Subtittle: Radial velocities: The Wilson-Evans-Batten catalogue. We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star, when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.
| Radial-velocity measurements. V - Ground support of the HIPPARCOS satellite observation program The paper presents data on 1070 radial velocity measurements of starsdistributed in 39 fields measuring 4 deg x 4 deg. The PPO series ofFehrenbach et al. (1987) and Duflot et al. (1990) is continued using theFehrenbach objective prism method.
| MK classification and photometry of stars used for time and latitude observations at Mizusawa and Washington MK spectral classifications are given for 591 stars which are used fortime and latitude observations at Mizusawa and Washington. Theclassifications in the MK system were made by slit spectrograms ofdispersion 73 A/mm at H-gamma which were taken with the 91 cm reflectorat the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. Photometric observations in UBV were made with the 1-meter reflector at the Flagstaff Station of U.S.Naval Observatory. The spectrum of HD 139216 was found to show a strongabsorption line of H-beta. The following new Am stars were found:HD9550, 25271, 32784, 57245, 71494, and 219109. The following new Apstars were found: HD6116, 143806, 166894, 185171, and 209260. The threestars, HD80492, 116204, and 211376, were found to show the emission inCaII H and K lines.
